Nikki's Story: I am 30 years old and I have been diagnosed with metastatic Hurthle Cell Carcinoma which is a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer. While thyroid cancer is generally a very treatable disease, due to the type of thyroid cancer I have and to the extent that it had already spread at the time of diagnosis, this cancer is proving to be very difficult to treat and has not been responding to standard treatments. As a result of this illness, I have suffered significant loss of income as I had to give up my part time job and I continually have to take alot of time off from my full time job due to appointments and to an increasing inability to work. I am trying to raise money for travel expenses to and from treatment which I receive in New York City for now, but I may have to look into other Cancer Centers throughout the country as I am running out of options at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I would also like to explore some alternative and complementary treatments as I believe that they could help me as well. Please help in celebrating one of our cherished family members.
